Janice Stillman - Editor - The Old Farmer's Almanac - Oldest Periodical In American History

Janice Stillman - Editor - The Old Farmer's Almanac - Oldest Periodical In American History - Published on March 15, 2017

When Janice Stillman joined The Old Farmer’s Almanac as Editor in 2000, she made history. Janice is not only the 13th editor in the Almanac’s history but also the first female to hold the title.

In her role as Editor, Janice oversees the development of the annual publication, working closely with writers and other editors to develop new and interesting feature content. She also has a hand in the preparation and production of the seasonal All-Seasons Garden Guide, The Old Farmer’s Almanac for Kids, and the Almanac’s line of calendars and cookbooks.
Raised in Norwood, Massachusetts, Janice earned a degree in English from Fitchburg State and also holds a master’s in mass communication from Emerson College.

Prior to joining the Almanac staff, Janice traveled around the world and has visited many countries on other trips. These days, she divides her time between the Almanac’s offices in Dublin, New Hampshire, during the week and southern Massachusetts on weekends. She enjoys cooking and bicycling in her spare time, of which she has little in spring, summer, and early autumn: Janice tends a plot at the local community garden.

Danica McKellar - Actress/Author/Education Advocate - New Children's Book "Goodnight Numbers"

Danica McKellar - Actress/Author/Education Advocate - New Children's Book "Goodnight Numbers" - Published on March 9, 2017

Best known for her roles on The Wonder Years and The West Wing, Danica McKellar is also a three-time New York Times bestselling author, internationally-recognized mathematician and advocate for math education - and now a new mommy! A summa cum laude graduate of UCLA with a degree in Mathematics, Danica has been honored in Britain's esteemed Journal of Physics and the New York Times for her work, most notably for her role as co-author of a groundbreaking mathematical physics theorem which bears her name, the Chayes-McKellar-Winn Theorem.

After graduating from UCLA, Danica returned to acting, starring as Elsie Snuffin in the fourth season of The West Wing, and soon found a unique way to combine Hollywood with mathematics. Tackling math education and simultaneously breaking the stereotype of the "math nerd," Danica began writing entertaining math books - with a glamorous flair - to teach and encourage middle school and high school girls in math. Published by Penguin books, Math Doesn't Suck (2007), Kiss My Math (2008) and Hot X: Algebra Exposed (2010) are all New York Times bestsellers. Her fourth book, Girls Get Curves: Geometry Takes Shape (2012), hit the shelves this August. The immediate success of this series prompted ABC World News to name Danica their "Person of the Week." Her message to girls? Smart is sexy!

In addition to continuing her acting career with such roles as a recurring spot on CBS's hit show How I Met Your Mother, a guest appearance on The Big Bang Theory, and various films, Danica voices the regular role of "Miss Martian" on Cartoon Network's Young Justice. To date, she has starred in over 30 films and has had over 50 guest-starring roles on series. Visit the videos page to watch some clips!

"It's hard to describe why I love acting. I've always had two sides to my personality - on the one hand I love logic and math and puzzles, and on the other, I just love to entertain people. I have an instinct to tell human stories with the belief that somehow we understand ourselves better when we see someone projected up on a screen, someone who is saying things we've said and feeling what we've felt. I also do it because it feeds an instinct that I have to share something. And boy, there's nothing like "sharing" with a live audience in theater acting - it's like dancing for me. There's a real thrill to it."

Ringo, Charlie, Moonie, Bonzo… There are but a handful of drummers in the Rock world who can be identified by merely uttering one name… Cosmo is truly a member of this elite club.

For well over forty years, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Doug “Cosmo” Clifford has been laying it down deep, fat, and swinging. Along with his best pal and rhythmic partner, Stu Cook, Cosmo has provided the groove for all the great tracks that CCR recorded in the 60’s and 70’s and is soon to be bringing the big beat to a town near you.

One of the few genuine nice guys in the Biz, Cosmo will take time from a hectic schedule to chat with fans, pose for pictures, and usually he doesn’t leave the show until the last autograph is signed and the last fan satisfied.
