Fernando Vargas (born December 7, 1977) is a retired American boxer of Mexican descent and three-time world champion, who won a bronze medal as an amateur at the 1995 Pan American Games in Mar del Plata. His nicknames include “Ferocious”, “The Aztec Warrior” and “El Feroz”. Vargas was the youngest fighter to become world light middleweight champion in 1998.

In his professional debut on March 25, 1997, Vargas crushed Jorge Morales in just 56 seconds. Immediately, a star was born. Fernando blasted his next five opponents all within two rounds, eliminating four of his five challengers in one round each. After six professional bouts, Vargas had fought a total of only eight rounds. Vargas racked up an impressive record of 14 victories with 14 KOs against no defeats by the time he fought for his first world championship. Vargas won his first world title in 1998, knocking out Yori Boy Campas in seven rounds for the IBF light middleweight championship. Vargas successfully defended the title throughout 1999, with victories over Howard Clarke (TKO 4), Raúl Márquez (TKO 11), Winky Wright (MD 12), and Ike Quartey (UD 12).

Gloria Gaynor is one of the best-known female disco artists from the ’70s due to the ongoing success of her monster 1979 hit (and subsequent “woman’s anthem”), “I Will Survive.” Born Gloria Fowles on September 7, 1949, in Newark, NJ, the singer (who began going by Gloria Gaynor by the early ’70s), first sang as part of the obscure R&B outfit the Soul Satisfiers before being discovered by MGM Records head honcho Mike Curb (eventual leader of the Curb label and Lieutenant Governor of California), who decided to sign the singer to his label after several auditions. Gaynor began issuing albums on a regular basis beginning in 1975 and with her 1976 release Never Can Say Goodbye, the singer became one of the first-ever dance artists to issue an album aimed primarily for club use (there were no breaks between the songs, as one track would automatically segue into the next), a method used to this day by DJs and certain dance artists.

Although Gaynor enjoyed a few moderate hits, it wasn’t until the release of 1979’s aforementioned disco gem “I Will Survive” that Gaynor racked up her first true smash hit. The song was awarded the first and only Grammy Award for Best Disco Recording in 1980and still remains popular in dance clubs and has appeared on countless movie soundtracks and dance/disco compilations. Gaynor continues to issue albums and play shows (especially in Europe) and during the late ’90s issued an autobiography (also titled I Will Survive), as well as appearing for a two-week run on Broadway’s hit musical Smokey Joe’s Café.

Cee Knowledge & The Cosmic Funk Orchestra is a Philly-based funk and hip-hop group lead by its namesake, Cee Know the ‘Doodlebug’ of the Grammy award winning jazz-influenced rap group Digable Planets. This collective of seasoned veteran musicians has come together to bring their head nodding rock energy to their legendary frontman’s jazzy rap flow for audiences around the world since the band’s creation in 2000.

Their new album, “To Life, Love, Loot” is set to officially release in the Summer of 2014. This eclectic album of brand new recordings, which they spent over 4 years crafting together, was self-produced by Cee and his band members using traditional live band recording studio techniques; rather than the drum machines and sampled loops that are the mainstays of most mainstream rap music production today.
